18-MD Fallen FF Memorial Clean-up-Annual cleaning of the MD Fallen FF Memorial is Sunday 5/18. There will be a group of riders leaving from Laurel VFD at 10:30AM to go to the Memorial in Annapolis . Please be there by 10:15. You can also go directly to the Memorial to help. Cleaning consists of washing the statues and then waxing them as well as general yard maintenance, weed killing and washing down the paved area. Please come out, this is your Memorial. For those who don’t know where it is, take Rt 50 E, exit Rowe Blvd toward Annapolis and you will run into it. After the cleaning, Joe and Paula Stratton have invited everyone to their home is Pasadena for a great cook out and camaraderie.

23-25-Rolling Thunder DC & Ft.Washington H-D Sunday, 5/25 is Rolling Thunder. Meet at the American Legion (6800 blk. Greenbelt Rd , Greenbelt , MD ) starting around 7AM for breakfast at the A.L. USPark PD will escort all riders to DC. You can then decide to go to the Pentagon and participate in the parade or park your scoot and watch the parade. Please note, if you haven’t done the parade out of the Pentagon, be prepared to sit in the parking lot for at least 3 hrs, so bring water and snacks. If watching, still a 3 hr wait, but there are vendors/food available at 22nd and Constitution Ave , or visit the Memorials One final note, if you are a HOG member, this is a PIN stop. You can get a very nice Rolling Thunder pin at either FT Wash H/D on Sat or at the Pentagon lot on Sunday (look for the HOG banner). MUST have your NATIONAL HOG card

6-Dinner Ride We will be riding to Hagerstown to meet the Pittsburgh Red Knights and have dinner together. We will leave Laurel VFD at the same time 7 pm.
7-Ride to Ocean City with the PA Red Knights. Any member who wants to ride with the group needs to be at the Exxon Station (Route 198 just before the BW Parkway ) Saturday morning at 9:30 am.

19-20-Flight 93 Weekend Ride- (Saturday-Sunday)We have a block of 10 rooms at the Days Inn Somerset for Saturday night 7/19/08. The hold for the rooms is until June 30th. The rooms are double rooms (smoking or non-smoking). The rate for the Red Knights is $59.95 plus tax. To make a reservation call the hotel direct at 814-445-9200. Ask for Virginia , if she is not in make sure to tell the clerk you are calling for a room for the Red Knights. This is the only way you will get the discount. Also, if you are planning to go on the trip, please email me at kstair@dmv.com so we can get an approx. head count for planning meal stops. 15-17-Southern VA 3 day Ride-RC Tomy Baker and Dinner Ride leave Laurel VFD at 1900-To all interested in going on this year’s Southern VA Ride on Friday-Sun 8/15-17, I’ve checked with the motel in Buchanan, VA (Wattstull Inn 540-254-1551) and the rate is $65.00 + state tax per night.(2 night stay). Please call to make your reservations ASAP. If you want smoking, there are 4 rooms available. Make sure you say you are with the RED KNIGHTS MD 1 Chapter. You will need a credit card to hold your room or send a check/M.O. I’ll send an e-mail later in the summer to let those interested in riding down with me on Friday morning. Mostly back roads. You can take Interstates (quicker) on your own if you wish. (still about 260 miles one way). Off I-81, exit 168, Buchanan , VA. FYI – Internet available in some rooms and new Direct TV (more than 4 stations finally). There’s a pool that we usually sit around in the evening, Plenty of good restaurants with home cooking and some great all day riding on some new winding roads I found.
